ABI/Inform (ProQuest)
includes ABI/Inform Dateline for local and regional business news, ABI/Inform Global for comprehensive coverage of business research topics and ABI/Inform Trade & Industry for periodicals and newsletters with a trade or industry focus.  Search these databases individually or together.
 
Access Science
includes the latest edition of the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology, new trends and developments, definitions

Alt Health Watch (EBSCOhost)

American Medical Association Publications (ProQuest)
is a publisher database that contains citations from scholarly journals.
 

Ancestry Library Edition (ProQuest/Only Available in the Library) is a comprehensive genealogy resource center including census, vital, church, court and immigration records.  It contains billions of names as well as thousands of databases such as the U.S. Federal Census images and indexes from 1790 to 1930.
 

Associations Unlimited
contains information for approximately 460,000 international, national, regional, state and local nonprofit membership organizations in all fields, including IRS data on U.S. 501(c)
nonprofit organizations.

contains authoritative biographies from Gale Group sources and full-text articles from hundreds of periodicals.   It also includes the Complete Marquis Who’s Who for quick reference information on an additional 900,000 people.
 
Business & Company Resource Center (Gale / NOVEL**)
is a fully integrated resource bringing together company profiles, brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies and periodicals.  Search this database to find detailed company and industry news and information.  It is available through NOVEL, a statewide virtual library provided free to the public by the New York State Library.
 
Business Searching Interface (EBSCOhost)
is a specially designed interface for searching EBSCO’s Business Source Premier database.  It provides an easy way to both browse and search for country economic data, company profiles, industry information and market research.
 
Business Source Premier (EBSCOhost)
provides full text for nearly 8,200 business journals and other sources.  This database offers information in nearly every area of business including marketing, management, economics, finance, accounting, international business and more. This database is updated on a daily basis.

is an interactive career resource designed for people of all ages.  Detailed occupation profiles and comprehensive post-secondary education information are included.  Complete a survey to find potential careers that match your interests.
 
Community Resource Database of Long Island
is a directory of health, human service and education agencies and programs on Long Island.  It includes services for children, families and seniors in both Nassau and Suffolk counties.
 
Computer Source (EBSCOhost)
provides researchers with the latest information and current trends in high technology.  This database offers full text for nearly 300 publications and indexing and abstracts for nearly 450 publications.
 
Country Watch
is a source of up-to-date news and information on each of the recognized countries of the world.  Political, economic, investment, social and environmental overviews are included.
 

Credo Reference
provides a complete reference collection of over 3 million entries. Access the full text of more than 290 titles from over 50 publishers along with images, maps and data. Major topics including art, business, history, medicine, science and technology are covered.

is a reliable source of information that can be used to empower consumers to make intelligent, informed eldercare decisions. Gain access to comprehensive reports on nursing homes and assisted living facilities as well as home health agencies throughout the United States. Many reports include ratings and rankings as well as demographic information.

covers the topics of business, education, health, literature and science in reference books as well as magazine and newspaper articles.  Search an individual database or multiple databases.

eLibrary
is a general reference database covering business, education, health, language arts, science and the social sciences.  Full text articles from magazines, newspapers and books as well as broadcast transcripts and pictures, maps and audio/visual files are included.  Topic searching is an additional plus.
 
Encyclopaedia Britannica Online
is a powerful resource to search for information in encyclopedias, magazines, videos and Web sites.  Access to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary & Thesaurus is also included.
 
Encyclopedia Americana (Grolier)
can be used to search the encyclopedia’s content.  The Americana Journal, a weekly posting of current events as well as essays with Web links are included.
 
ERIC (Educational Resource Information Center/EBSCOhost)
the Educational Resource Information Center, provides access to education literature and resources.  ERIC contains full text articles as well as citations and abstracts.
 

Funk & Wagnall's New World Encyclopedia (EBSCOhost)
provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
 

Gale LegalForms (Gale) 
provides a wide selection of New York State legal forms on most popular subjects including real estate, trusts, wills, bankruptcy and divorce.  Sample letters are also featured.  Many forms can be filled in before printing. 
Public users should consult an attorney for serious legal matters.
 
Gale Virtual Reference Library (Gale)
is a multidisciplinary database of encyclopedias and specialized reference sources in eBook format in the fields of the arts, biography, business, education, the environment, history, law, literature, medicine, multicultural studies, religion and social science.    
 
General OneFile (Gale)  
is a one-stop source for news and periodical articles on  business, computers, current events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, hobbies, humanities, law, literature and art, politics, science, social science, sports, technology and many general interest topics.


General Science Collection (EBSCOhost/NOVEL**)
offers full text coverage for more than 60 of the most popular science publications dating as far back as 1992. It is available through NOVEL, a statewide virtual library provided free to the public by the New York State Library.
 
Grolier Multimedia
is derived from the Academic American Encyclopedia database. It consists of more than 40,000 articles and associated media, including still pictures, maps, sounds and multimedia.
 

Health and Wellness Resource Center (Gale /NOVEL**)
is a source of information on medicine, nutrition, diseases and herbal remedies. Included are links to Web sites and government databases. It is available through NOVEL, a statewide virtual library provided free to the public by the New York State Library.
 
Health Reference Center Academic (Gale /NOVEL**)
contains articles on fitness, pregnancy, medicine, nutrition, diseases, public health, occupational health and safety, prescription drugs, etc. It is available through NOVEL, a statewide virtual library provided free to the public by the New York State Library.
 
Health Source Consumer Edition (EBSCOhost)
provides information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Full text articles from nearly 300 journals are included.
 
HeritageQuest Online (ProQuest) 
offers a collection of genealogical information dating from the late 1700s.  Search U.S. Federal census records, over 20,000 books of family and local histories and primary source documents such as tax lists, city directories and more.
 

Image Collection (EBSCOhost)
contains over 180,000 photographs and images including current events, sports, maps, entertainment, the sciences and historical interests.

Informe (Gale /NOVEL**)
is a collection of articles in Spanish on business, health, technology, culture and other topics. It is available through NOVEL, a statewide virtual library provided free to the public by the New York State Library.
 
Investext Plus (Gale)
is a financial research database. Investment, company and industry reports from over 500 brokers in North America, Europe, Asia/Pacific, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East are included. All company and industry reports are provided in full page PDF image.
 
Issues and Controversies (Facts on File)
explores more than 800 hot topics in business, politics, government, education and popular culture.

Lands and Peoples (Grolier)
is derived directly from the articles that appear in the print version of this comprehensive resource on countries, cultures and current events.
 

Literature Resource Center (Gale)
is a complete literature reference database rich in biographical, bibliographical and critical content on literary figures from all time periods writing in such genres as fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, history, journalism and more.
 
LitFinder (Gale)
covers world literature and authors throughout history.  Access thousands of full text poems, short stories, speeches and plays as well as biographies, explanations and overviews to enhance understanding.
 

Magill On Literature Plus (EBSCOhost)
produced by Salem Press, is the premier literary database, combining MagillOnLiterature and MagillOnAuthors. This database includes all the literary works, reviewed critical analyses and brief plot summaries that are included in MagillOnLiterature, as well as all the biographies and author essays included in MagillOnAuthors.
 
MasterFile Premier (EBSCOhost)
 provides full text for nearly 1,950 general reference publications with information covering virtually every subject area of general interest as well as full text reference books, biographies, primary source documents, photos, maps and flags. This database is updated daily.
 
McKinney's Forms Online (only available in the library)
provides detailed information on the various legal forms used
in New York.

 
Medline (EBSCOhost)
provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences and much more. This periodical index was created by the National Library of Medicine.
 
Morningstar Investment Research Center
combines in one convenient database all the stock, fund, industry and ETF information necessary for in-depth research and smart portfolio construction.  It is a one-stop-shop for screening and report building tools including extensive help and education materials.
 

National Newspaper Index (Gale/NOVEL**)
provides indexing (1977-present) of America’s top five newspapers, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post. It is available through NOVEL, a statewide virtual library provided free to the public by the New York State Library.

provides access to eBooks, digital full-text versions of reference works, scholarly monographs and fiction titles that you can view

Newsday (1985-current/ProQuest)
includes full text coverage from 1985 through the present.
 
Newspaper Source (EBSCOhost)
provides selected full text for nearly 30 national and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television and radio news transcripts and selected full text for more than 200 regional newspapers. This database is updated daily.
 
NoveList Plus (EBSCO)
is a complete resource for fiction and nonfiction pleasure reading. Find works by a favorite author or a list of titles in a particular series.  Locate titles that have received awards and honors.

can be used to help locate both fiction and nonfiction titles for grades K-8.  Find books in such popular categories as adventure, mysteries, science fiction, graphic novels and sports. Award winners for children and teens are included.
 

Oxford Art Online is the most comprehensive online reference resource for all aspects of the visual arts worldwide in all its forms and mediums from prehistory to the present day.

Oxford Music Online
includes coverage of music history, instruments, composers, performers and genres.


Points of View Reference (EBSCOhost)  
is designed to assist researchers in understanding the full scope of controversial subjects.  Use Points of View as a guide to debate, develop arguments and write position papers.  Supporting articles from established publications are included.
 

PROMT/ Predicasts Overview of Markets and Technology (Gale) 
can be used to research companies, the products and technologies they produce and the markets in which they compete. It includes summaries and full text from nearly 1,000 business and trade journals, industry newsletters, newspapers, market research studies, news releases and investment and brokerage firm reports.

ProQuest Historical Newspapers The New York Times (1851-2004)
offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue.
 
ProQuest Newspapers ('Click Databases selected' for a list of all newspapers included)
provides full text articles from Barron’s, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal as well as other national newspapers.  Search these papers individually or together.
 

Reference USA includes more than 14,000,000 U.S. businesses with telephone numbers, addresses and contact information as well as directory information for 210,000,000 U.S. residents and 855,000 U.S. health care providers (physicians and dentists).  This resource is invaluable for job seekers, job changers and market researchers.  Searches can be customized to locate companies by SIC number, business size, Yellow Page heading or geographical area.
 
Regional Business News (EBSCOhost)
incorporates 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires covering all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States.  Included in this database are full text articles in the Long Island Business News and Crain’s New York Business.  This database is updated on a daily basis.

provides online access to the complete content of Magill’s Medical Guide, an up-to-date, comprehensive reference resource. Diseases, disorders, treatments and procedures are covered as well as topics of current concern.

Salud Para Todos (EBSCOhost)
is a full text consumer health resource written entirely in Spanish and designed specifically for those seeking information about health and medicine. The articles contained within Salud para Todos were selected from over 300 publications and sources created by over 50 research associations and national institutes.
 
Science Reference Center (EBSCOhost/NOVEL**)
is a comprehensive research database that provides easy access to a multitude of full text science-oriented content. This database contains full text for nearly 640 science encyclopedias, reference books, periodicals, etc. Topics covered include: biology, chemistry, earth & space science, environmental science, health & medicine, history of science, life science, physics, science & society, science as inquiry, scientists, technology and wildlife.
