Description
Enrico Fermi, born in 1901, was an Italian born, American naturalized physicist. He was a husband, father and one of the world’s most brilliant and productive scientists. In 1938 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his demonstrations of the existence of new radioactive elements produced by neutron irradiation, and for his related discovery of nuclear reactions brought about by slow neutrons. In January 1939, after receiving the Nobel Prize, he moved to Columbia University and eventually the University of Chicago where he led the first controlled nuclear chain reaction. Join Edward Sierra when he offers this engaging and informative presentation on the life and work of this world changing physicist.
