Program Description



Practice the power of observation after watching a short online video, make invisible ink, observe our fingerprints, extract DNA from a piece of fruit and attempt to solve a real mystery!

Materials Needed:

  • one lemon or small amount of lemon juice
  • one small paint brush
  • one plain piece of white paper
  • a pencil
  • scotch tape
  • a teaspoon of flour or other another powder
  • ink pad (optional)

Optional materials for DNA testing:

  • rubbing alcohol(placed in the freezer one hour before class)
  • 3 plastic cups, or clear glass
  • pinch of salt
  • 1ml. of dish soap
  • coffee filter
  • rubber band
  • plastic ziploc bag
  • piece of fruit
