Cards for Hospitalized Kids

Put a smile on someone’s face by creating them handmade uplifting greeting cards!

How to complete this project:

  1. Gather up some supplies! Cards must be hand made with simple items such as crayons, markers, and paper. Please do not use any craft supplies that is excessive to the point of falling off. This is extremely important as it may be hazardous to some of the patients. Please no glitter!!!
  2. Make sure you don't address the cards to a specific person. Instead, use phrases like “Hello” or “Dear Friend”. Remember: Never include any personal information in the card such as your phone number, home address, email address, or any other personal information.
  3. Decide what to write on the cards you are creating! At the request of the hospitals, we ask that you DO NOT write “get well”, “feel better”, or any related comments. Many of the children that the hospitals treat suffer from chronic or fatal medical conditions. We recommend that you write things such as: “You are awesome!’, “You rock!”, “I hope you have an amazing day today!”, “You shine brighter than the sun!”, “You are the best!”, or other similar phrases. Don’t forget to sign your first name only! The hospital also asks that you do not include an religious comments such as “God Bless” or “I’m praying for you”.
  4. Take one picture of your cards and email them to the Teen Librarian at communityservice@jericholibrary.org with the subject line “Cards for Hospitalized Kids”. In the body of the email, please include your full name and phone number.
  5. After emailing us a picture of your cards, please send your cards to:
